Move off Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, or WordPress without losing your domain or your email.
Leaving a website builder sounds risky because so much is tangled up in it: the domain, the email, the old links people bookmarked. GatorByte rebuilds the site as a custom prerendered site, keeps your domain, maps your old URLs to the new pages, and only switches over once everything has been checked.

Rebuilds we have shipped
Client sites GatorByte first built, then rebuilt in 2026 with prerendered pages, sitemaps, and, for American Outdoors Company, redirects for common search terms. These were not platform moves, but the same steps apply when you leave a builder. Each one links to a short case study.

Read case studyWho it is for
- Wix and Squarespace sites that have hit the limits of the builder
- GoDaddy website builder sites that are slow or look dated
- WordPress sites that need constant plugin updates, or have been hacked or broken by one
- Owners paying for a builder subscription and still doing all the updates themselves
What a migration includes
- An inventory of your current pages, forms, and the content worth keeping
- A custom rebuild, prerendered as static HTML and hosted on Netlify with SSL
- 301 redirects from old page addresses to the matching new pages
- Your existing domain, with DNS changed carefully so email records stay in place
- Forms tested end to end before and after the switch
- A new sitemap and checks in Google Search Console after launch
How it works
Website migration, step by step.
01
Inventory
We list every page, form, and redirect-worthy URL on your current site, and where your domain and email are managed.
02
Rebuild
The new site is built and reviewed on a preview address while your old site keeps running.
03
Map
Old URLs are redirected to their new equivalents so links and bookmarks keep working.
04
Switch
We point your domain to the new site, confirm SSL, forms, and email, and only then do you cancel the old platform.

A migration that becomes a custom 1-3 page site uses the Launch package. Larger sites, blogs with many posts, and stores are quoted up front after we see what is there.
Questions
Website migration: common questions.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I switch?
We cannot promise rankings will not move; some short-term change is common after any site change. Keeping your content, redirecting old URLs to matching new pages, and submitting a fresh sitemap are the steps that protect what you have built.
Do I keep my domain name?
Yes. Your domain stays yours. We update its DNS records to point at the new site. If the domain was registered through your website builder, we help you transfer it or point it before the old plan is cancelled.
What happens to my business email?
If your email runs on your domain, its mail records are kept in place when we change DNS, so email keeps working. We confirm where your email is hosted before we touch anything.
Can you move my WordPress blog posts?
Yes, posts and pages worth keeping can be carried over and redirected. A large blog or an online store is more work and is quoted up front.
When should I cancel my old platform?
After the new site is live on your domain and we have confirmed forms, SSL, and email are working. Cancelling earlier can take the domain or email down with it.
