Custom softwareCovington, Mandeville & the Northshore

Software built around how your business actually runs.

When a business outgrows spreadsheets, paper forms, and three apps that do not talk to each other, off-the-shelf software often fits about halfway. GatorByte builds the other option: software shaped to your workflow. We are not guessing at what that takes. We build and operate our own platforms, including TraceLock for fire-safety field operations and Oblidex for compliance tracking.

Who it is for

  • Established businesses running core work on spreadsheets, paper, and email
  • Teams paying for several tools that each cover part of the job
  • Field operations that need scheduling, photos, reports, and records in one system
  • Companies whose off-the-shelf software forces them to work around it every day

What a software engagement includes

  • Workflow discovery: how the work moves today and where it breaks
  • Data modelling so records, jobs, and reports fit together
  • Front-end and back-end build in React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
  • Screens that work on a phone in the field as well as a desk
  • Roles and permissions for owners, office staff, and field teams
  • Hosting, monitoring, and iteration support after release

How it works

Custom software, step by step.

01

Align

What the software needs to do, what success looks like, and which constraints matter.

02

Shape

Workflows, data, and screens are mapped and agreed before the build gets heavy.

03

Build

Delivered in working pieces with weekly checkpoints, so you use it as it grows.

04

Tend

After launch: support, fixes, and the next round of improvements.

Price

Customproject engagement

Software is scoped and quoted up front, as a fixed-scope budget or transparent time and materials. Hosting and ongoing support are part of the quote.

Questions

Custom software: common questions.

Should I buy off-the-shelf software or build custom?

If an existing product fits your work well, buy it; it is usually cheaper. Custom makes sense when your workflow is what sets you apart, when you are stitching several tools together, or when your team spends hours working around software that does not fit.

What software has GatorByte built?

GatorByte builds and operates its own products: TraceLock, a field-operations platform for fire safety inspections; Oblidex, compliance automation with certification tracking and audit management; AuditGrid, healthcare insurance audit automation; FloraTrax.ai for nursery and landscaping operations; and Dysplyn, a productivity app. Client builds include admin tools for The Hampshire and Lucky Minou Sushi.

How is custom software priced?

Each project is scoped up front and quoted either as a fixed-scope budget or as transparent time and materials. You know what you are agreeing to before the build starts.

Can you bring in data from our spreadsheets or old system?

Yes. Moving existing records into the new system is planned during scoping, so the software starts with your real data instead of an empty screen.

Who owns the software?

Ownership terms for software are written into each project agreement. Our standard website terms give you your content and custom design once paid in full, while GatorByte keeps its underlying frameworks; we discuss what fits your project before work begins.
