A faster website, measured on the phones your customers actually use.
A slow site loses people before they read a word, and most local customers are on a phone with a so-so signal. GatorByte builds for speed from the start and tunes sites we host. The work is unglamorous: smaller images, fewer scripts, pages served as finished HTML, and layouts that do not jump around while they load.

Read case studyWho it is for
- Owners whose site feels slow on a phone, or whose PageSpeed report is mostly red
- Sites with large photos or video that were uploaded straight from a camera
- Sites weighed down by plugins, page-builder code, chat widgets, and trackers
- Businesses planning a redesign who want speed treated as a requirement, not an afterthought
What speed work covers
- A Core Web Vitals review: loading (LCP), layout shift (CLS), and responsiveness (INP)
- Prerendering pages to static HTML so content arrives without waiting on JavaScript
- Image resizing, compression, and modern formats, with lazy loading below the fold
- Self-hosted fonts and fewer third-party scripts
- Fixes for content that shifts while the page loads
- Speed tracked in the monthly report for care-plan sites
How it works
Website speed optimization, step by step.
01
Measure
We test the pages that matter on mobile and find what is actually slowing them down.
02
Prioritize
Fixes are ranked by how much they help real visitors, not by how much they move a score.
03
Fix
Images, fonts, scripts, rendering, and layout are tuned, then retested.
04
Watch
On the care plan, speed is checked each month so new photos or changes do not slowly undo the work.
Price
Speed work is part of every GatorByte build and redesign under the Launch package ($1,000, then $100/mo). For sites we already host, larger performance work is quoted before it starts. For a site built elsewhere, start with a free audit; sometimes a rebuild is the honest answer.
Questions
Website speed optimization: common questions.
Can you make my Wix or Squarespace site faster?
Only a little. On hosted builders, most of the code that slows the page down belongs to the platform, so there is limited room to fix it. Compressing images helps. For a big improvement, moving to a custom prerendered site is usually the real fix.
Will a faster site rank higher on Google?
Page experience is one of many things Google considers, so we do not promise ranking changes from speed work. A faster site does make it easier for visitors to stay, read, and contact you.
Why does my PageSpeed score change every time I test?
The lab test in PageSpeed Insights runs a single simulated load, so results vary from run to run. The field data section, when your site has enough traffic, reflects real Chrome users over the past 28 days and is the better guide. We look at both.
Can you guarantee a score of 100?
No. We aim for pages that load quickly and stay stable on real phones. A perfect lab score is sometimes possible, but chasing it can mean removing things your business actually needs.
